2010-11 Requirements to become a Certified Official in the Lone Star Region
Completed certifications are good for two seasons, no renewal is required.

Scorekeeper Referee
  1. Attend a clinic
  2. Take and correct the test
  3. Submit completed score sheets from two sets (games) and receiving a passing rating
  4. Submit a scorekeeper application
  5. Register in the Lone Star Region
  6. Pay applicable fees

Memorandum

TO:                              Lone Star Region Junior Club Directors

RE:                              Team Referees for 15 and under teams

Because of the adult and peer pressure that is sometimes attached to officials in volleyball matches when 15 and over Junior Olympic referees are acting as the R1 or R2, and because many regions across the country already require coaches to be the first choice as a referee (R1, or R2 is a paid referee is provided) for younger teams, the Lone Star Region will immediately require coaches of 15 and under junior teams to accept the role of primary referee for the team.

Please have your team coaches of your 15 and under teams plan on applying for certification, or re-certification as the case may be, this season.  This process includes that they 1) renew if currently certified, or 2) apply as a referee, attend a referee clinic, take the referee exam and correct it as needed, complete two ratings (one must be as an R1), and join USAV. 

We believe that you will agree that this is the best direction for us to take for the protection of the younger players and the integrity of the game.  We hope that you will embrace this concept and participate fully as a club.
